Tiruvallur (NH205) is one of the satellite towns of Chennai. The place is bounded by Gummidipoondi, Sriperumpudur and Mahabalipuram. It is a religious place and is called a temple town since it features numerous temples. The town is on Cooum River about 42 km northwest of Chennai. It consists of four revenue villages namely Periakuppam, Perumpakkam and Pungathur, and is divided 27 wards. The place is famous for Veera Raghavar Temple and Siva Temple.

Connectivity-

Tiruvallur is well-connected by roads and railways. The place lies on Chennai-Bengaluru broad gauge railway line and Chennai-Tirupati Trunk Road. The two major roads that connect Chennai and Tiruvallur, one route is through Patabiram, Avadi, Ambattur, Villivakkam and the other route is through Poonamallee and Koyembedu. There are two Suburban railway line alone Tiruvallur which are West line and WestNorth line. West line is from Central Chennai to Arakkonam and WestNorth line is from Central Chennai to Tiruttani.

Many big projects are coming up in Tiruvallur making it an important residential area. Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) has sketched a Second Master Plan that plans to develop Tiruvallur as the satellite township around Chennai, which instead will bring commercial profit to the place.
