On the rolling Tuscan hills, along the Via Francigena and overlooking the beautiful medieval city of San Gimignano and its hills famous for the production of Vernaccia Docg, we offer the iconic Villa Ducci. The hotel has 26 rooms, which can accommodate over 60 people. The reception is accessed via an Art Nouveau staircase from the large square, from here you can easily reach the bar area, the breakfast room, the kitchens and the ancient cellar dug into the sandstone. This portion of the structure is completed by a very useful conference room and the fabulous dining room open on three sides thanks to the windows and equipped with a beautiful wooden belvedere from which you can admire the valley, the swimming pool and the towers of San Gimignano. Next to the main property stands the former barn which, following an exceptional renovation, also houses apartments. The more than 3 hectares of land complete the park of the Villa. A bit of history: Immersed in a spectacular countryside, in 1300 Villa Ducci already existed at the time it was a watchtower and, since then, it was the ideal point from which you could admire San Gimignano. The Villa Ducci hotel, built in 2003 from a skilful renovation, is built around this ancient tower, one of the 72 that in the Middle Ages dotted the landscape of this town with a unique history in the entire world. In fact, the towers in San Gimignano were not built for defensive or military reasons: they were isolated elements that did not belong to a fortified system and did not even have access doors manned by machicolations or crossbow windows. The towers had the symbolic meaning of expressing the power of the family that owned them. The higher the tower, the greater the importance of the family and it is for this reason that, based on the ups and downs of their owners, the towers were raised or lowered. Traces of this incredible story are still visible at Villa Ducci. On the ground floor of the villa, in fact, there is the layout of the tower, around which, over the centuries, the company center has been built, consisting of warehouses, warehouses and the houses of the employees. To complete the entire complex, at the end of the 1700s the villa was built, the summer residence of the Ducci family, of which the hotel still bears the name today.
