On the spur of a rock in the Casentino hills, with a predominant view of the surrounding valleys and woods, the village of Campovecchio is truly unique. As soon as you arrive, you have the sensation of going back in time and being catapulted into an oasis of peace and nature. This small village consists of 6 buildings, typical independent farmhouses in stone and brick, mainly to be restored in full, but a part of the main farmhouse is habitable. It is an urban agglomeration, of which we have news since the Byzantine era, and we have the testimony of it with what remains of a watchtower of the time, whose ruins can still be admired today. The church, dating back to 1100, dedicated to Sant'Apollinare, denotes a Romanesque construction typology with a single hall with a row-shaped facing and the bell tower in the rear part; the bell, in bronze, still functioning, is placed in an original stone bell tower, in the center of the apse there is a single-lancet window, through which in May, at sunrise, its rays illuminate the whole church. The entire buildings and the church currently have a total area of approximately 2,200 sqm. The village develops from east to west, this type of position is functional to protect the town from the north wind which whips the whole area in winter. All the buildings, one of which has incorporated the old castle of the village, are connected to it. Campovecchio, until the 70s, was inhabited by about 60 people, and has reserves of water for a much higher use, in fact, within the property there is a spring (at an altitude of 750 meters above sea level), which feeds the whole village. Furthermore, on the left and right of the spur on which it is built, inside the property, there are two streams that can serve to feed any activity and/or to achieve any type of agriculture. The village is completed by 112 hectares of land, which preclude the absolute hegemony of the village from a territorial point of view. This beautiful village, due to the many potentialities and the history that characterizes it, deserves to be restored to its splendor. Nestled on a plateau among the Casentinese mountains, Campovecchio is a place of rare beauty and location. Traveling along a hill road that leads to the village of Talla, whose center is about 2 km from the property, you arrive at this wonderful village via a well-beaten unpaved (private) road, 600 meters long. The closest services are in Castiglion Fibocchi. Strategic position connected to the motorway at about 20 km, Arezzo is 35 km away while Florence is 70 km away. Florence airport is just over an hour away by car, while Arezzo train station is half an hour away by car.
