Work On Surat Metro To Start In June 2020
Metro services would make way into Gujarat’s Surat in another four years, with the construction work set to start in June 2020. The centre in March this year approved Phase-I of the Surat Metro project, under which two corridors will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 12,000 crore. Likely to be completed by June 2024, the project will be undertaken by the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC).
The plan
Corridor-I: Running 21.61 km, the first corridor between Sarthana and Dream City will have 20 stations. This route will cover some of the key industrial areas in Surat, making commute easy for those who work in these areas. Of the total stretch, 6.4 km will be underground while the remaining will be elevated.
