To cater to this growing base of consumers, the mall story of the country has progressed rapidly, too. Two decades ago, there were barely any shopping malls in the country, but now there is at least one mall in every urban Indian city. Every year, several new shopping malls are launched in India and 2016 has been no different. Here are some of the malls that opened in different cities in 2016:
DLF Mall of India, Noida
DLF Mall of India located at Sector 18 in Noida is the first destination mall in India. The mall is developed by one of the largest real estate developer, DLF Group with an investment of about Rs 1,800 crore. Spanning over an area of two million sq ft, the mall offers shopping stores, food joints and food court, and entertainment zones. A lot of innovation has been put in designing the mall and is strategically divided into five zones and seven floors. DLF Mall of India is home to as many as 300 brands national and international brands.
Mall De Goa, Goa
Goa got its second shopping mall in 2016 with the launch of Mall De Goa. Located at Porvorim, the mall has many retail options which include stores, food court, restaurants, and entertainment zones. It spreads over an area of 180,000 sq ft and is developed with an estimated cost of Rs 100 crores. Located on the National Highway 17, it is easily accessible from any part of the city.
VR Bengaluru, Bengaluru
VR Bengaluru is a mall developed by real estate developer, Virtuous Retail. The mall, which is popularly known as Black Box on Whitefield Road, is located at Whitefield. VR Bengaluru is a part of a mixed-use development, which has residential spaces, a retail arcade and working spaces. Spreading across an area of 600,000 sq ft, the mall has stores of many renowned brands, a nine-screen multiplex, cafes, restaurants and pubs, and offers many other recreational options.
Singapore Mall, Lucknow
The first theme mall in Lucknow, Singapore mall spans over an area of one acre and is based on the concept of high-end shopping. The mall has stores of many different brands, a food court, a multiplex theatre and a multiple-car parking area.
Mall of Joy, Kottayam
The first mall in Kottayam, Mall of Joy is located at Baker Junction in the city. It is developed by the Joy Alukkas Group and sprawls over an area of 200,000 sq ft with five floors.
