: an overview
Known as the Pearl City, Hyderabad is the common capital of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Hyderabad is also known as the Hi-Tech City or Cyberabad because many technology firms have major offices in the city. Hyderabad is the largest city in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The growth of Hyderabad can be attributed to early industrialisation, rail-road networks and connectivity with major ports. Vehicular density in Hyderabad (70 passenger car equivalent per kilometer) is, however, much higher than that of other cities like Chennai (290) or even Mumbai (240).

Living
Property in Hyderabad is in high demand. Both commercial and residential real estate in Hyderabad are much sought after. This is partly because large corporations find land in Hyderabad cheaper when compared to cities which are comparable, like Bengaluru. Hyderabad also has much less stringent building height restrictions and other restrictions on acquisition of land. The Telangana government recently approved 20 flyover projects in Hyderabad worth Rs 2,631 crore. This road development programme is expected to raise real estate prices across the city when they are fully constructed. The outer ring road has raised prices in areas like Madhapur. Hyderabad also has the longest Indian flyover, PVN Rao Express Highway which lowered commute distances in the city. When Hyderabad metro rail is completed, it is expected to carry 1.5 million passengers, raising real estate prices in areas around metro transit corridors.
Real estate and construction
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation collects property taxes in Hyderabad. You can pay your property tax online. In Hyderabad, property taxes are calculated according to the plinth area, rental value of the property per square feet. In Hyderabad, Stamp Duty and Value Added Tax (VAT) are five per cent of the value cited in the agreement. Registration charges are 0.5 per cent of the value of the transaction. The building permission procedures are approved by the GHMC. FSI is also stipulated by the GHMC. Demographics
Hyderabads population was 6,809,970 according to the 2011 census. Civic infrastructure in the city is built and maintained by GHMC. GHMC also engages in the construction of bridges, fly-overs and subways. GHMC conserves and maintains heritage buildings in the city, constructs and improves community buildings and builds public latrines, burial grounds, cemeteries and parks. GHMC also builds storm water drains and rainwater harvesting systems. Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) provides water and sewage management services in the city. The Telangana governor maintains law and order in the city. Each zone in the city has a deputy police commissioner. Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority plans and orchestrates development in the city, and has authority over bodies like the HMWSSB.

Industry and employment
Hyderabad contributes more to Andhra Pradeshs GDP than any other city. Hyderabad is expected to become an IT hub worth 50 billion dollars by 2025. Nearly 1.5 million people in the city work in the IT industry, according to some estimates. The Andhra Pradesh state government has been implementing policies intended to facilitate industrial growth, and this is an important factor that drives the growth of the economy of Hyderabad. Of all the Indian cities, Hyderabad has the highest number of special economic zones. The industrial and service sector are major contributors to Hyderabads economy. The state and central governments, too, employ people in large numbers. But, Hyderabad was a major industrial centre even in the 19th century. Hyderabads flourishing IT industry has led many to call the city Cyberabad. Google, Microsoft and HP have major offices in Hyderabad. Facebook plans to office its largest office outside the United States in Hyderabad. Less than a quarter of the members of Nasscom are from Hyderabad.

Lifestyle
Hyderabad produces more films than any other Indian city other than Mumbai. Hyderabadi architecture and cuisine are quite well-known. Hyderabadi cuisine, especially the popular Hyderabadi Biryani, is influenced by Mughals. The city has many heritage buildings and many historical monuments. Hindi, Telugu and English are among the most popular languages spoken in Hyderabad. Charminar, Mecca Masjid, Golconda Fort, Qutb Shahi tombs, Birla Mandir, and Chilkur Balaji temple are in Hyderabad. Dakshin, Bawarchi and Paradise are some of the most popular restaurants in Hyderabad. Hyderabad also has some good parks such as Nehru Zoological Park, KBR National Park, Mrugavani National Park, Hyderabad Botanical Gardens and Mahavir Harina Vanasthali National Park are in Hyderabad. Inorbit Mall, Ashoka Metropolitan Mall, City Centre Mall and Hyderabad Central are some of the major shopping malls in Hyderabad.
